If you are in MS Word, open up the spelling and grammar options.

Now, open the Autocorrect dialog.

Under “replace text as you type, add this:

Replace = ibm i

With (plain text) = IBM i

Now, go type the letters ibm i in your document, and it will not capitalize the i… Voila!

One final thing, shut up and stop whining.

One final thing, shut up and stop whining.

Quit whining about people criticizing IBM. It’s a free country.

Hahaha – thanks David.

First, I was pointing that at Mike, who kept whining about the way he had to type IBM i and got IBM I.
Second, I ain’t whining, I am slamming whiners. Criticism is ok, but whining isn’t, and there is way too much of that lately.

Waaah waaaah waaah…

If pointing out the MS Word idiosyncrasy when typing “˜IBM i’ (darn, I had to do it again) was considered whining, you have not heard whining. If I repeated more than once, maybe it was whining.

Actually, I like the name IBM i because it is very concise. As a 25+ year veteran on the System 3, System 34/36, System 38, AS400, AS400e, iSeries, System i, and the IBM i (darn again, 3 times in this sentence alone), I have no problem with changing names.

I just got home from work, so I think I will have a glass of Whine!

Here is the reason I call it whining.

When you complained/suggested it was difficult to type into MS Word, it seems to be just another slam at the name IBM chose for the OS. There is no other reason to make this complaint, because there is a quick solution to solve that problem. Officially your complaint is not an actual complaint, therefore, it must be whining 🙂

i, i, i, i
